NaNoWriMo - Any takers?

Well, tomorrow is officially the first day of National Novel Writing Month. I am once again embarking on the most amazing journey of writing a novel. Yup, a book. The goal is 50,000 words in 30 days. Last time I wrote, I did almost 62,000 in 29 days. :)

Truly, I love the process of writing a book from start to finish. It never ceases to amaze me how the characters truly take on their own journey and tell you, the author, where they should go and what they should do.

I am starting my book with a character called Amelie (like Emily but with an "A" - short vowel). If I had had another girl, I wanted to name her that. In any case, my book with be a historical/fantasy romance. Kind of a fairytale type. I am quite excited to see what happens.

Check back through the month for updates and to keep encouraging me. And if you want to join, please do! Click here for the official NaNoWriMo website. A special thanks for my friend Melissa who will be joining me too. :)

Happy writing!

Growing Up

I had the following description of growing up from my son at 3:30am this morning...

When I grow up I'll be too big for this bed so I'll have to have a big bed like you and I'll sleep with my curtains open and I'll get dressed on Sunday all by myself and I'll put my pajamas on by myself and I'll play with really big trains but not pick my nose and I'll go on the school bus and I'll....

The whole "but not pick my nose" was thrown in there as if it was nothing but an absolute. It cracked me up. :)

My son is sick with a fever and decided that he wanted to sleep with my husband and I, which is unfortunate as we only have a queen size bed so fitting the three of us is not that easy. He then woke up around 3:15am and hasn't gone back to sleep, which means neither have I.

Friday Favorites on Tuesday Night

I know it's Tuesday but I've been wanting to do this for Friday Favorites. A friend of mine introduced me to this...

The House Fairy

This is an amazing program to help encourage your kids to clean their room and other similar stuff. Basically the "house fairy" comes to your house and checks your kids' rooms. If they are clean, she leaves her pixie dust and a surprise. If they are not clean, she just leaves her pixie dust so they know she was there.

It is amazing how the little motivation of "the house fairy" is to little kids. My sister has been struggling with getting her kids to clean their rooms and I introduced her to this program and she has had great success. She has more info here.

It is really affordable (i.e. $15 for two years for the basic package). If your kids don't keep their rooms clean already, I encourage you to check it out!
